Mercedes
1. Use a wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal, to avoid shorting the electrical system during the installation. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
2. Open the ashtray. Remove the two screws inside the ashtray compartment with a Phillips head screwdriver. Slide the entire ashtray assembly from the vehicles dashboard. The ashtray will be connected to the cigarette lighter by electrical wiring. Allow it to hang by the wiring.
3. Pry the panel from the dashboard (above and below the stereo) with a trim panel removal tool. Wrap a thin cloth around the tools blade to protect the trim panel finish. Remove the two panels and set them aside. Remove the two screws above the stereo unit and the two screws below the unit with a screwdriver. Slide the stereo from the dashboard.
4. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the stereo unit. Slide the aftermarket stereo faceplate adapter into the stereo dock. Connect the stereo wiring connectors to the wiring harness adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the outlets on the back of the aftermarket stereo. Insert the antenna cable lead into the AM/FM antenna input on the back of the new stereo deck.
5. Slide the aftermarket installation collar into the vacant stereo dock. Feed the stereo wiring (now connected to the wiring harness adapter) and antenna cable through the collar. Fold the tabs inside the collar outward with a flathead screwdriver to secure it inside the Mercedes stereo dock.
6. Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the corresponding outlets on the back of the new stereo. Insert the antenna cable lead into the FM antenna outlet in the back of the new stereo. Slide the stereo into the installation collar until it locks into place.
7. Replace the panels above and below the stereo dock. Press against the panels to secure them to the dashboard. Slide the ashtray into the slot at the bottom of the dashboard. Replace the two screws beside the ashtray and close it. Return to the Mercedes battery.
8. Place the negative battery cable clamp back onto the battery terminal. Tighten the bolt on the clamp with a wrench. Close the hood.
