The All New Audi A6 to Hit the Indian Shores

Come this September and you will be greeted by the new Audi A6. After recently launching the RS5 and A7, Audi India will bring in the new A6 in order to increase its foothold in the premium segment.

First look at the new A6 and you can easily mistake it for the A8L. But the side profile of the car proves that it is still the A6 which now is shorter than its predecessor. However, the wheelbase has increased by almost 69 mm which is reflected in the cabin space. The front end looks quite like the A8L which is actually not bad. The headlamps are now entirely an LED affair with daytime running lamps. The front bumper has also been reworked which also has an extended lip spoiler and fog lamps now sit deep inside. Overall, the front is now aggressive but still has an element of conservative styling. The roofline is more coupe-like in this car and the tail lamps are more flamboyant now.

Audi has always made the best in business cabins and oh boy! The story is no different in this Audi. Every element of the cabin coalesces together to create an ambience like no other. Everything in this cabin exudes quality and class. The front as well as the rear seats are very comfortable and supportive and this cabin is a nice place to be in. The equipment list is endless. You get an awesome Bang & Olufsen music system, dual zone climate control, touchpad for the MMI, heated and cooled seats and lots of other things. Its like a “you name it and you got it” affair.

Audi A6 is 80 kilograms lighter than the previous model and this helps in improving the handling dynamics. However, what lets down the driving experience is the numb and lifeless steering wheel. Audi will offer two petrol and two diesel engine options. The petrol motors churn out either 204bhp or 299bhp whereas the diesels pump out 177bhp or 245bhp. The 7-speed S tronic dual clutch gearbox is a cherry on the cake and makes this car a delight to drive.

Audi India has hinted that this new A6s pricing will be similar to the previous model. Expect the car to start at about Rs 40 lakhs going all the way upto Rs. 53 lakhs for the top-end. This new Audi A6 has been transformed and is surely worth the wait.

LAMBORGHINI SUV GOING TO DEBUT IN BEIJING

According to a well-placed source at Audi , its Italian supercar subsidiary is hard at work on the project and are aiming to make a grand unveiling of its brand new SUV/crossover concept for the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. The Audi manager could provide little information but did respond, “I can’t comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct.” Lamborghini itself has yet to make any statements. Initial speculations on the Lambo-ute suggested a version of the V10 powerplant sourced from the Gallardo. What’s more, while alternative-energy power plants go against the Italian supercarmaker’s traditions, a possible hybrid drivetrain capable of 700-hp has also been rumored. As an upmarket competitor rivaling the high performance Porsche Cayenne, Maserati Kubang, as well as the statement making BMW X6, the new Lamborghini SUV is projected to produce less than 1,500 examples a year and is expected to command a steep retail price no less than $ 200,000 in North America. During the 2008 Paris Auto Show, Lamborghini revealed a sleek 4 - door Estoque and although Lamborghini denies the concept will make it to production, a successful Lamborghini SUV just might make room for a sedan as the fourth model in the line-up.

How to Lease a BMW

1. Decide what you want to lease. The 2009 and 2010 model years of BMW offer more than a dozen models to lease. Each car has different options and features. Consider whether you want a well-equipped car or a standard edition.
2. Determine your ideal financing and leasing structure. Keep in mind variables such as length of the lease and mileage allowance. One lease advertised by BMW is a 36-month lease, well equipped, for $369 per month. Some leases have a cash offer depending on the model and year.
3. Understand the terms of the lease. Considerations include down payment, first months down payment, security deposit, acquisition fee and cash due at signing. Some of these factors might be fixed depending on the dealership, but changing any of them usually affects your monthly lease payment or the amount due at signing.
4. Estimate your monthly payment. The BMW website has a robust tool for estimating monthly payments based on the state of purchase, model type and dealer accessories.
5. Decide on financing. Payment options include EasyPay (paying directly through your financial institution), PrePay lease (single upfront payment that is less than the sum of monthly payments on a traditional lease), Multiple Lease Security Deposits (reduced lease payments resulting in a higher refundable security deposit), and Advanced Financing Payments (pay in advance without prepayment penalties).
6. Contact the dealer. Locate a dealer in your area at bmsusa.com and make an appointment; or, to speak to a BMW representative, call toll free (800) 578-5000.
7. Use non-BMW dealership resources. Sites like swapalease.com allow car leaseholders to negotiate exchanges on leases. BMWs swaps are popular. Note that a swap implies that you already hold a lease.

How to Adjust the Headlights on a 2007 BMW 328i

1. Park your 328i directly in front of a garage door or other flat, vertical surface.
2. Measure the height from the ground to the center of the headlights. Place a horizontal strip of tape in front of each headlight on the wall at this height. Place a vertical strip of tape in front of each headlight assembly to create a cross, which will be used as a target to aim the headlights.
3. Measure 25 feet behind your flat, vertical surface and place a strip of tape on the ground there. Reverse the 328i until the headlights are directly over this strip of tape. Turn on the headlights and prop open the hood.
4. Look for the two adjustment knobs on each headlight assembly; one is near the top of the assembly and the another is on the back. Insert the Allen wrench into the center of the knob to turn it. Adjust the knob to aim each headlight so that the beam hits the wall within 2 inches of the inner and lower portions of the corresponding tape cross mark.

How to Test Ignition Coils on a BMW 328

1. Open the hood. Remove the cabin microfilter cover by turning the three knobs that hold it on 90 degrees. Lift the cover out and set it aside. Remove the cabin microfilter and disconnect the wiring harness from the filter housing. Remove the four T30 screws that hold the filter enclosure in place. Set the enclosure aside.
2. Pry the small, round plastic plugs from the top engine cover and that conceal the screws for the engine cover. Remove the 10-mm nuts that hold the engine cover on with a socket. Set the engine cover aside.
3. Unscrew the oil cap on the lower engine cover. Pry out the plastic covers. Remove the 10-mm nuts with a socket. Set the cover aside.
4. Locate the coils. These are in a row down the engine and are bolted to the tops of the spark plugs. They each have a wiring harness going to them. Remove the two small bolts that hold the coils onto the spark plugs. You can then pull the coil up and off of the spark plug.
5. Examine the end of the coil where it fastens to the spark plug. There will be three contacts. The outside two are the primary contacts. Using an electric ohmmeter, test the contacts. Place the ends of the ohmmeter testing cables on the contacts to see how many ohms the coils are producing on the readout. According to BMW, the acceptable range is 0.4 to 0.8 ohms.
6. Replace the coil if the ohm reading is not within the acceptable range. It is recommended to change all of the coils at the same time, since one failing may be a sign that the others may be failing soon as well.
7. Reinstall the coils by sliding them back over the spark plug. Reinstall the two small bolts with a socket. Reinstall the upper and lower engine covers. Reinstall the cabin filter enclosure, the cabin filter and the lid for the enclosure.

How to Troubleshoot the 1983 Mercedes 230 E

1. Walk around the 230 and look for any impact dents. If the sedan was in a crash then the dents will be knee high and could indicate structural damage in that section as well. Go below the car and look at the car frame for any deformations of weld lines. The frame will have weld lines where the struts meet, but if there is a weld line in the middle of a strut then that means it was snapped in half and re-welded. Do not buy a re-welded vehicle, as this compromises the cars ability to survive a crash.
2. Look for any rust on the frame and body. Rust will show as a brown patina that indicates oxidation has set in on the steel. Rusted body panels can be replaced, but rusted car frames cannot. Pay special attention to rust on the metal straps that hold up the muffler as these are often the first ones to go.
3. Look at the disc brakes for any signs of warping or worn-out brake pads. The 230 was notable for including vacuum-assisted disc brakes as standard in an age where drum brakes were still prevalent. However, hard use or accidents could warp the discs and make them less efficient. The brake pads should still have pads in them, though it is likely that the original Mercedes brake pads have been replaced with third-party ones due to the exorbitant cost of vintage Mercedes parts.
4. Press down on each corner to test out the spring suspension. The corner should bounce back up immediately. If the corner takes a few seconds or if it stays down, then the springs are shot and need to be replaced. Springs wear out over time, especially in heavier cars like the 230. Visually inspect the springs for any cracks. If the spring is cracking then it is only a matter of time before it snaps and becomes useless.

2. Go to the rear of the headlight assembly and locate the two T25 screws along the top of the headlight. Use your torx wrench to remove these screws. Be sure to place them somewhere safe so that they do not roll away during this procedure.
3. Fit your wrench with an extension. Locate and loosen the screws on either side. Do not completely remove these screws.
4. Slide the Allroad headlights out a few inches until you can access the wiring harness. Remove any clips and unplug the wires from the headlight assembly, then slide the headlight completely free.
5. Reverse the previous steps to install the new Allroad headlight into your Audi. Reattach the wires, clip them in place. Slide the headlight in to the headlight cavity. Tighten the side screws and insert the top screws. Close the hood.

How to Remove a Starter in a 1986 BMW

1. Open the hood. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain the coolant on 535i models. You can skip this if you plug up the heater hose that needs to be disconnected to gain access to the starter bolts.
3. Remove the expansion tank mounting bolts and move the expansion tank aside on the 535i. On the 528e, remove the bolts for the air cleaner housing and the air flow sensor and remove these two components.
4. Disconnect the heater hose that blocks access to the top starter bolt. If you did not drain the coolant system, use a plug of some sort to prevent the coolant from spilling out of the heater hose. This may also need to be done on the 3 Series, but examine the starter and the components near it to see if you will need to remove or disconnect any hoses. Wipe up any spilled coolant.
5. Disconnect the wires that go to the starter solenoid, which is the smaller round component attached to the starter. The wires are held on with a nut that is removed with a socket.
6. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the transmission. Maneuver the starter out of the engine bay. Installation is the reverse of removal.

How to Fix Cold Start Problems on an Audi TT

1. Jump start your Audi TT by opening the engine compartment and connecting the battery to the battery of another car that is running. The red jumper cable will connect to the positive terminals on each battery, which will be indicated by a + sign, while the other jump cable, most commonly black, will be connected to the negative terminals on each battery. Turn your TTs ignition to the accessories position while it is connected to the running vehicle and allow the battery to gain a charge for a few minutes before attempting to start your TT.
2. Check the ignition coils of your Audi TT by opening the hood and removing the plastic engine cover. There is one ignition coil for each cylinder of your engine and they all sit in a row, above each engine cylinder. Turn on your TTs engine and pull each ignition coil one by one before re-inserting it over the spark plug again. If there is no clicking, or spark, coming from the bottom of the ignition coil, then it will need to be replaced. Your engine has enough trouble starting in extreme cold and a faulty ignition coil can only exacerbate the problem. By replacing the ignition coil, you can resolve some cold start issues.
3. Inspect the spark plugs underneath each of the ignition coils. If there is a black and gray, soot-like substance that coats the spark plug, the spark plugs could be causing your issues. Replacing faulty spark plugs can help resolve cylinder misfires often encountered during cold starts of your Audi TTs engine.
4. Bring your Audi TT to a licensed repair shop or dealership and have them test the fluidity of the fuel injectors. The fuel injectors are responsible for delivering the appropriate amount of fuel to be combusted by each engine cylinder. Over time, the injectors can become dirty and clogged, which can impact their ability to evenly distribute fuel to all of your TTs cylinders. Cleaning or replacing dirty or clogged injectors can resolve cold start issues that may be caused by an inadequate amount of fuel being delivered to engine.
